A little more than eight months ago we announced the featured marques for the 2016 edition of the Hemmings Motor News Concours d’Elegance, this year celebrating its 10th anniversary. Joining our eight annual classes – Full Classics (as recognized by the Classic Car Club of America), American Pre- and Postwar cars, American Muscle cars, European Pre- and Postwar cars, Vintage Trucks and Preservation Cars – would be categories honoring the cars of Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg, 1966-’78 Cadillac Eldorados/Oldsmobile Toronados, Triumphs, the Ford 428 and 429 Cobra Jet engines of 1968 1/2 – ’71, Tailfin Evolution (the peak years of 1955-’62 of the iconic automotive design) and pre-1990 Military Vehicles. In the ensuing months since, the editorial staff has been diligent in finding finely restored examples for each of the classes that would join those submitted for consideration by enthusiastic owners. Now just days away from the event weekend’s opening ceremony, the field has been set: more than 150  exquisite and finely preserved vehicles will adorn Sunday’s lawn.

We’ve been briefly profiling a few of the more rare and unique cars and trucks that are schedule to be on display, including a pair of concepts from Ghia and Ford, Marquette, Lincoln Model K, a Ranchero Squire and possibly a custom-bodied Essex; however we thought it appropriate to offer one last sneak peek at several others, such as the 1931 Duesenberg J-456 Rollstron Convertible Victoria pictured above. Or the 1923 Detroit Electric colleague David Conwill and yours truly photographed as a restoration profile for an upcoming issue of Hemmings Classic Car magazine.

Another honest rarity, a 1935 Southern Cross, will be joined by a dozen other Triumphs, including the polarizing TR7/TR8 models from the “wedge car” era of design, while the 1954 Lancia Aurelia B20S (below) will sure to be one of the highlights of the European Postwar class.

One of the finest Cobra Jet Mustangs from mid-1968 – a former Hemmings Muscle Machines feature car – will be accompanied by other like-powered pony and mid-size Fords and Mercurys, and we’re pleased to welcome an array of Military Vehicles from as early as 1918, as well as a1942 Ford GPW courtesy of the AACA Museum located in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Held on Sunday, September 25, in the Saratoga Spa State Park in Saratoga Springs, New York, the Concours d’Elegance weekend will commence with the Hemmings Rally to Lake George on Friday, September 23, accompanied by Lia Infiniti’s Test Drive Event. Concluding the day’s activities will be the catered unveiling of the 2017 Infiniti Q60 and QX30 at the Saratoga Automobile Museum from 7-9 p.m. Saturday opens with the Hemmings Cruise-In Spectacular – an open to all manner of collectible vehicles support show – followed by the Concours evening banquet, the latter headlined by a keynote address from this year’s Honorary Chairman, automotive legend Lee Holman. Joining us throughout the weekend will be Porsche, Tesla and the Prestige Family of Fine Cars, each offering test drive/test ride opportunities, while Ed Lucas will once again be our Master of Ceremonies throughout the three-day affair.

Each of the 2016 classes have been filled to capacity; however we are already accepting vehicles for consideration for the 2017 Concours (the class details of which will be announced shortly). To submit a vehicle, please send full contact information, photos and a brief write-up about it to Hemmings Motor News Concours, Attn: Matthew Litwin, 222 Main Street, Bennington, Vermont, 05201, or by email at concours@hemmings.com.
