The 2016 edition of the Motorcycle Film Festival takes place in Brooklyn, New York from September 14 to 17, with screenings of narrative, documentary and experimental films made by motorcycling enthusiasts and filmmakers from across the globe. The event kickoff took place last night at the Gutter Bar in Brooklyn, but there’s still ample time to catch showings of every film. Event founder and organizer Corrina Mantlo of the Missfires all-ladies riding club and Via Meccanica Leathers has selected 40 movies, representing both feature-length films and shorts from each category, and the first three screening sessions begin today. Four additional screening sessions will take place on Friday, followed by four more on Saturday, with music and entertainment also offered each evening as part of the festival.

The event has been a huge success over its first three years and is a mesh of several different cultures including motorcycle riders, bike builders, film makers, bike enthusiasts and movie industry executives. Movies from past years have gone on to receive funding for commercial distribution, and additional awards and critical acclaim from the film industry. We’ve mentioned the festival in the Hemmings Daily numerous times over the years, including last year’s event where Easy Rider bike builder Cliff Vaughs saw the movie for the very first time and participated in a Q&A session and panel discussion with event participants. The resurgence of his notoriety because of that event was short-lived, as he died earlier this year, just as many new opportunities were coming his way.

Tickets are still available through Eventbrite or via the Motorcycle Film Festival home page for the movie screenings on Thursday through Saturday and are sold in 2-1/2 to 3 hour blocks. Prices range from $12-$115.

You can also follow the event on Instagram and on the Motorcycle Film Festival Facebook page.
