Hemmings Find of the Day – 1973 Volvo 1800ES

1973 Volvo 1800ES

1973 Volvo 1800ES for sale. From the seller’s description:

The increasingly desirable Volvo P1800 is the only classic European sports car of its vintage that will run today without complaint or care for endless thousands of miles. The famous Irv Gordon has driven his 1966 model more than three million miles, making the P1800 the most durable car in history. It’s a willing workhorse with the body of Brigitte Bardot.

According to Hemmings, the P1800 is also an “ubeatable collectible.”

The 1800ES, restyled as a “shooting brake” with a frameless glass hatch, was the final iteration of the model. It is powered by the indestructible B20 engine fitted with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. About 8,000 were made before production ended in 1973.

This car was originally purchased in London, Ontario, and has remained in the province ever since. As far as I know, I am the third owner. It has never seen snow.

The former owner restored and extensively rust-proofed the car. I recently had some minor bodywork and partial respray done. Everything works well and looks beautiful, except for some “beausage” wear on the front seat leather.

The car is easy for just about anybody to work on, and I have had no trouble obtaining parts (including a brand-new windshield direct from Volvo in less than two weeks).

No need to bring a trailer for this one. You could drive it across the continent tomorrow. The keys are waiting!
